Discover the incredible island of Madagascar in just 10 days! Get a taste of the remarkable natural and cultural heritage of the western coast of the Big Island.
You start off with a 3-day, 2-night cruise on the Tsiribihina River, where you will meet pirogues and motorized barges filled with local produce, see herds of zebus crossing the river, stop at villages, and pass through stunning landscapes- cliff of bats, giant capoquiers, and rice fields. The cruise will take you to the tsingy at Bemaraha National Park, an enormous World Heritage Site. The unique and bizarre landscape features chaotic razor-sharp limestone pinnacles. Impressive walkways, cable robes, rocky steps, steel ladders, and even a suspension bridge over one of the canyons, help you to navigate this stone forest. The region is even home to some animal species- there are good chances to spot the Decken’s Sifaka and red-fronted brown lemurs.
Next, you stop at the sacred baobabs to see the baobab lovers and the famous Baobab Avenue. Some of them are more than 1000 years old. At Kirindy Reserve, you can see the famous fossa (the lemurs’ predator) in its natural habitat. The tour ends off with a city tour of Antananarivo, the capital.
