Uganda is home to a remarkable range of wilderness regions, in which is found a wealth of birdlife species. On this 10-day safari tour, guests will visit several of these parks and reserves. Besides seeing a plethora of birdlife, including several endemic species, there will be a chance to encounter many other wildlife species. At Murchison Falls National Park, the Nile River houses populations of hippo and crocodiles, the forests are home to chimpanzees and other rainforest creatures, and the grasslands are the only place in Uganda where the famous Big 5 is found. A variety of waterbirds can be spotted here, including the world’s most accessible population of the rare shoebill stork. You will also visit Budongo Reserve, where the rare Puvel’s illadopses can be seen. At Semliki National Park, there are over 400 bird species, including four hornbill species found nowhere else in Uganda. In Kibale Forest, while the chimpanzees are the biggest attraction, there are still over 335 bird species recorded. After exploring the crater lakes and swamps of Kibale, you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where both the birdlife and game-viewing is fantastic- look out for the spectacular saddle-billed stork. The last destination on the tour is the Mabamba Swamps, where a unique canoe safari presents the opportunity to spot egrets, herons and again, the shoebill stork.
