Gorilla trekking in the wild forests of Africa is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is on every nature, safari and wildlife enthusiast's bucket list. This short safari tour, which takes place in the Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda, provides a chance to encounter these incredible creatures in their natural habitat, not just once, but twice. The tour starts off with guests arriving at Kigali, where you embark on short tour of the genocide memorial before heading to Volcanoes National Park. The memorial stands in tribute to those who lost their lives in the Rwandan genocide of 1994. After this historically and culturally significant experience, you will be taken to Volcanoes National Park, one of the last homes of the critically endangered mountain gorilla. Here, you will stay at an environmentally-friendly eco-lodge for the next three nights. On days two and three of the tour, you will experience the incredible gorilla-trekking adventure. You will hike through the forests and mountains of the park, led by a guide, in search of these wonderful creatures. Once you have found them, you will get to spend an hour in their presence, marvelling as they go about their daily activities. You will also get to visit a local cultural village during your time in the park. On day four, you will embark on a canoeing safari in the morning, before heading back to Kigali after lunch.
