Nyungwe Forest Primates Tour, Rwanda
Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in Rwanda, is one of the world's foremost primate sanctuaries. The park, which is more than 1000 square kilometres in size, is made up of dense forests, bamboo thickets, swamps and grasslands that are home to a fascinating diversity of primate species, the most famous of which is the chimpanzee. Several monkey species are also found here, including Colobus, Golden, Blue, and Red tailed monkeys. The park is also a birding hotspot. With this primate safari tour, guests are taken on a primate trekking adventure through Nyungwe. The tour is 7 days long, starting with a canopy walk across a walkway that hangs suspended 50m above a forested valley. A number of wildlife species can be spotted from this thrilling vantage point. Over the next few days, guests enjoy chimpanzee and Colobus monkey trekking. This involves hiking through the dense rainforest in search of the animals and, once they have been located, spending some time observing them in their natural habitat. An exciting waterfall hike is also included in the tour, as well as a visit to a historical place for a glimpse into Rwandan history and culture. On the last day, guests will visit the Genocide Memorial before departing Kigali.
