Tanzania's Northern Circuit of safari destinations is famous and frequently visited. However, the destinations on the country's Southern Circuit are equally impressive, and have the added advantage of being far less crowded and congested. This makes for a more relaxed, intimate and exclusive safari experience. The 6-day safari tour visits two exceptional parks on the Southern Circuit- Mikumi and Selous. Mikumi National Park, which is the first destination, is made up of grasslands, woodlands and floodplains that are home to a variety of species. This includes larger game such as lion, elephant and buffalo, as well as smaller species such as antelope, kudu and eland. Mikumi is also home to over 400 bird species. Enjoy and afternoon/sunset game drive in Mikumi, before heading to your camp. The next day, you will drive to Selous Game Reserve. Selous is the largest game reserve in Africa- it is 4 times as big as the Serengeti, and teems with wildlife. The mighty Rufiji River runs through the park, attracting populations of hippos and crocodiles. The famous African Big 5 are all found here, and the birding is also excellent. You will spend three nights in Selous, exploring the stunning wilderness on game drives, boating safaris, and guided walking safaris, allowing for a unique and refreshing safari experience.

Why we like it
