Malawi Self-Drive and Island Hop Tour

This is a safari tour with a unique twist. You explore Malawi on a self-drive tour, using a vehicle provided by the tour company. You will visit a variety of destinations, encountering the diverse wildlife and natural beauty of this incredible country. On day 1, you arrive in Lilongwe, spending the night at a country lodge. The next day, you begin your self-drive adventure. The first destination is Zomba, the capital of Malawi during colonial times. You will stay at a lodge on the edge of the Zomba Plateau, a stunning natural mountain landscape, crisscrossed by streams, waterfalls and lakes. Enjoy hiking, guided walks and horse riding, observing the plentiful birdlife and perhaps looking out for a leopard. Next, you will drive to Liwonde National Park, one of Malawi's most popular parks, home to an abundance of wildlife, including the Big 5. You will stay at a camp on the banks of the Shire River, enjoying game drives, walking safaris and boating safaris. Next, you will head for one of Malawi's most incredible destinations, Lake Malawi. This enormous lake runs the length of the country from north to south and is perfect for a host of exciting activities, including kayaking, snorkelling, scuba diving and swimming. Or simply kick back and enjoy the almost tropical island-like surrounds. You will stay at two different islands on the Lake, before heading back to Lilongwe.
