Malawi Island Hopping Kayak Tour
This tour is an adventurous sea kayaking trail on the picturesque Lake Malawi. The tour covers 25km over three days, with the kayakers paddling between Domwe and Mumbo Islands on Lake Malawi. Accommodation is provided at the camps on each island- Mumbo Camp and Domwe Camp. The tour is fully-catered.
The tour's starting and ending points are in Johannesburg, South Africa (airfare and road transfers are included in the cost of the tour). Guests fly into Lilongwe, Malawi, and are transferred by road to Cape Maclear. Here one night is spent at Cape Cottage. Guests then kayak out to Domwe Island, spending two nights at this rustic yet charming island camp. From here, guests kayak to Mumbo Island, where two nights are spent at Mumbo Island Camp. Domwe and Mumbo are constructed using natural materials and embody the untouched beauty of Lake Malawi. Activities include swimming, snorkelling, and exploring the islands on foot.
Guests kayak from Mumbo back to Cape Maclear, spending another night at Cape Cottage, before heading back to Lilongwe and onto Johannesburg.
The kayaking activities are easy to moderate, with minimal fitness required; boat support is available for those unable to paddle.
