Tswalu Kalahari is a private game reserve found in the famous Kalahari Desert in South Africa, set among the open savannahs and semi-arid grasslands of the desert. The reserve is also home to the Korranaberg Mountains, making it a region of abundant biodiversity. Spectacular mountain vistas add to the intrigue of the landscape. At over 1000 square kilometers, it is South Africa’s largest private game reserve. The variety of habitats have resulted in a region that is home to more than 80 mammal species, around 240 bird species, and an almost uncountable range of insect species. The butterfly population of Tswalu alone amounts to more than is found in the entire British Isles. The conservation ethos of Tswalu means that no more than 30 guests at a time are allowed on the reserve. This allows for an exclusive and intimate experience. Get up close to the reserve’s diverse species, which include the critically endangered desert black rhino and the magnificent black-maned Kalahari lion.
