Sesriem is the gateway to the Namib Desert and is a dream destination for landscape photographers. Blistering white ancient salt pans dotted with the remains of age old trees against a backdrop of rolling fiery red sand dunes. The Namib is home to a multitude of unusual plants and wildlife adapted to life in this harsh climate. Many of these are endemic to this region. Watch a sunrise from the top of the highest sand dunes, feel the desert sand beneath your toes or just snap away at the endless photo opportunities. This part of Africa is off the beaten track however a number of tours do pass through and there are several established lodges and campsites in the area to make use of.
