Odzala-Kokoua National Park is located in the Republic of the Congo. This remote park is tucked away in a corner of Africa, far from the busy safari circuits of Kenya and Tanzania. One of Africa’s oldest protected areas, it consists of 13600 sq km of tropical rainforest, swamps, rivers, and savannah. Odzala is home to a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including over 400 bird species, as well as fascinating creatures like the giant forest hog and sitatunga antelope. But its greatest drawcard is its population of endangered Western lowland gorillas. Visitors have the chance to see these incredible creatures in the flesh on a gorilla safari tour. Experienced guides lead you on a thrilling trek through the rainforest in search of them, and you spend at least an hour in their presence once you find them.
A handful of safari lodges in the park offer luxurious accommodation in the rainforest. Odzala is the ultimate destination for those seeking adventure, isolation and genuine wilderness.
