The Masai Mara is one of Africa's premier national parks and is world renowned for its outstanding predator viewing and the unique spectacle of the Great Migration, which occurs every year from July to October. Best explored on a Masai Mara safari tour, the migration of vast breeding herds of zebra, Thomson's gazelle and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti attracts exceptional populations of lions, leopards and cheetahs. Although most tourists flock to this park to see the migrating masses, game viewing remains strong throughout the year. The reserve is predominantly grassland interspersed with patches of woodland which makes for ideal game viewing with large tracts of open areas. There are a multitude of accommodation facilities in and around the park as well as numerous Masai Mara safari tours suited to safari goers on a budget.
