South Africa's 60 000 hectare Klaserie Game Reserve shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park and another with its sister reserve - the Timbavati. The Klaserie is made up of rugged bushveld dominated by belts of mopane bush, as well as its flagship marula and leadwood trees. The Klaserie River is thelife blood of the area, and attracts good concentrations of game to its banks – especially in the dryer months. Although there are a number of private landowners with their own private camps, the area in general has a low vehicle and lodge density, and has very few commercial lodges operating within its borders. The Klaserie reserves are home to 63 species of large mammals, 264 bird species, 85 trees, and 55 reptile species. The game viewing is great with a good chance of seeing the Big 5 and if really lucky one might see a ‘white lion’.
