Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest of Zambia’s national parks, and is the second largest park in Africa. It is situated within an easy few hours drive of Livingstone and the iconic Victoria Falls, making this an ideal destination for those looking to also visit Victoria Falls. The best time to visit the park is in the dry season, as the Summer rains make much of the road network unusable, and most of the camps within the park close down subsequently. However, a few camps are open year round and provide a great base from which to experience the magic of Kafue. Large herds of elephants, buffalo and antelope, as well as intense predator activity and scintillating birding make this park a must do!

Why we like it

Second largest park in Africa; Close to Victoria Falls; Exceptional birding and game-viewing
