The 7500 hectare Amakhala Game Reserve is located in the malaria-free Eastern Cape in South Africa. It is easily accessible via the N2 highway. The reserve offers a wide variety of 3, 4 & 5-star independent commercial lodges operating on the property. The private Game Park offers guests accommodation in a selection of 11 Luxury establishments made up of restored Country houses, Safari Lodges and Tented camps. These are all located in different areas of the large 18 000-acre safari park. Some dwellings are owned and managed by fifth generation Frontier Settlers families. The reserve is well stocked with general game and is an excellent place to view cheetah. All the Big 5 occur here; however, leopard are seldom seen. The Amakhala reserve supports a number of different habitat types and ecosystems from coastal dune vegetation to open grass lands and savannah.
