The Outpost, Pafuri

The Outpost Lodge lies in a vast and remote wilderness area in the far northern Kruger National Park known as the Pafuri. It is bordered to the north by the Limpopo River and Zimbabwe, and to the east by Crooks Corner and Mozambique. The Big 5 Makuleke Concession measures some 26 500 hectares, and is well-known for its abundant wildlife, including less common species not abundant in the southern and central regions of the park. Apart from large herds of elephant and buffalo, guests will be able to see Nyala, an antelope which is not easily found in the more southern regions of the park, and over 350 recorded bird species. Halfway up a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River, The Outpost Lodge is nestled. The modern bar, lounge and dining areas lead off to the swimming pool deck. Accommodation is provided in 12 stand-alone en-suite rooms aptly called 'Spaces' that have retractable walls opening each room up on 3 sides at the touch of a button. The rooms are decorated in a contemporary African style, with en-suite bathrooms sporting great views of the river. Each room has an outdoor terrace and daybed, and an indoor lounge and bedroom. All buildings are linked by a half kilometre-long walkway made of Zimbabwean teak wood.
