Sesriem Camp is located at the entrance to Namibia's famous Sossusvlei region, a spectacular combination of fiery wind-carved dunes and desert landscapes. The camp is also located a stone's throw away from the magnificent Sesriem Canyon, a narrow ravine that is about 1km in length and 30-40m in depth. Sometimes during the rainy season, rock pools form at the bottom of the canyon, where visitors can take a refreshing dip. In the drier months, you can hike up the canyon. The main advantage of staying at Sesriem Camp is that guests are able to enter Sossusvlei before sunrise and leave after sunset (which visitors from outside the park cannot do). This provides the opportunity for witnessing spectacular sunrise and sunset views over the incredible dunes of Namib Desert. The clay salt pans of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei are a must-visit: the twisting silhouettes of the dead camelthorn trees in the Deadvlei provide wonderful photographic opportunities. Look out for a number of wildlife species, including gemsbok, springbok, jackal, zebra, and maybe even a leopard.
There are 24 campsites, each with electrical points and fireplaces. There are also communal ablution facilities, a restaurant and bar, small shop and gas station.
