Sand Rivers Selous is a luxury safari bush camp, situated in the heart of Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve, the biggest game reserve in Africa. The camp overlooks the Rufiji River, the lifeblood of the park and a home for hippos, crocodiles and plenty of bird species. The park is also home to a diversity of other species, including the Big 5. The camp is made up of five standard rooms and three suites, with en-suite bathroom facilities and mosquito netting. The suites feature their own private plunge pools. The camp's facilities include an open-sided thatched boma, which overlooks the river and is furnished with chairs and cushions, perfect for relaxing between game-viewing activities. There is a swimming pool under a big baobab tree, which affords views of the plains surrounding the camp. The camp also has a small curio shop. The main activity offered at Sand Rivers is the classic safari game drives, which take guests out into the reserve. Walking safaris are also offered; they are guided and provide an exciting alternative. There are also boating safaris on the river, fishing, and trips to the Tagalala Hot Springs for guests to choose from. The camp also has a game-viewing hide, built on stilts, that overlooks a game-rich marsh.
