Sable Sands, Hwange

Sable Sands is a classic safari lodge, located on the edge of Zimbabwe’s magical Hwange National Park. The lodge exudes a rustic charm, while still featuring all the modern facilities and amenities necessary for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The accommodation is made up of 16 thatch “rondavel” chalets, each with en-suite bathroom facilities, and able to accommodate single, double and twin occupants. The lodge is located on a private concession, in a forested area overlooking a dry riverbed- a delightful bushveld setting. The main area of the lodge is the perfect place to kick back and relax- the dining, lounge, library and bar area all overlook a waterhole that is frequented by a stream of wildlife visitors, including elephants, zebra, buffalo and sable antelope. On a lucky day, you may see lion, jackal, cheetah or wild dog ... The wildlife of Hwange can, of course, be viewed on safaris in the concession. The park’s pristine wilderness is home to a great variety of wildlife species, including the Big 5. The lodge also features a swimming pool for cooling off, and an outdoor fire pit, where delicious dinners are enjoyed next to a roaring campfire under the stars.
