The ultimate safari experience has got to be discovering nature on a walking trail. Plains Camp’s focus is on exploring the 12 000 hectares of our unspoilt wilderness concession in the Kruger National Park on foot, with a short game drive to finish off afternoon walks. Experience Africa’s sights, sounds, scents and textures of nature, and revel in encounters with big game at their own level. Our trail guides are highly qualified and experienced conservationists. Rhino Walking Safaris' Plains Camp is a colonial, explorer-styled tented camp overlooking the scenic Timbitene plain and waterhole. The camp is built on raised wooden decks without the use of concrete, so as to limit the impact on the land. With only four en-suite tents, the ambience and service is personal and intimate.
For the adventurous, a walk to the Sleepout Decks can be booked. A night is spent under the stars listening to the night sounds, far removed from civilisation. Right on our doorstep, a mere 30-minute game drive away, is our sister lodge, Rhino Post Safari Lodge. It is an organic luxury wilderness lodge, providing on-road game drives inside the Kruger National Park, even after dark. It is the perfect combination with Plains Camp.
