Quatermain’s 1920s Safari Camp
Set in a secluded valley of the malaria-free Eastern Cape, Quatermain’s Camp portrays a truly authentic tented safari experience, modelled on a romantic bygone colonial era. The camp has a central boma and three comfortable tents which are lit by traditional storm lanterns in the evenings. All meals have a local flavour, and the evening highlights are the braais (barbecues) which are prepared over an open fire. The three canvas tents are charming, appropriately decorated, and each has its own wooden deck to ensure privacy for its occupants. Guests will delight as they drift off in the evenings to the haunting cries of jackals, the classic calls of fiery-necked night jars and, if one is lucky, the sporadic roar of lions. Quatermain’s Camp is owner-run by a husband and wife team who provide excellent service and a fantastic experience. Riaan and Julie Brand are exceptionally passionate about what they do and the ambience of Quatermain's Camp will delight even the most seasoned traveller.
