A haven for nature lovers, Mbuna Bay Retreat is located directly on the shores of Lake Niassa (Mozambique part of Lake Malawi). Lake Malawi is Africa’s third largest lake and home to more species of fish than any other lake in the world. Despite its remote location, it is easily accessible - it is 15 km south of Metangula town and a scenic two hours’ drive from Lichinga Airport. It features long sandy beaches and rocky bays surrounded by pristine bush land, interspersed with giant Baobab and Mango trees. Mbuna Bay offers you peace, tranquility and first class comfort in an authentic African environment. It is a true eco-lodge, observing high standards for sustainable tourism in Mozambique. It has been recognized for its environmental practice and social responsibility. Mbuna Bay comprises four luxurious wooden chalets located directly at the beach. They have been placed on stilts to cause minimal impact to the fragile nature of the dunes. Through their picture windows and from their private verandas, all of the beach chalets offer an unhindered view of the lake and the bush countryside. Unique features of the lodge include a large library and a special outdoor yoga platform.
