Makalali River Lodge

Makalali River Lodge retains a rustic feel whilst offering a luxurious safari experience. This award-winning camp's design is truly unique. There are three individual camps, each with six luxury en-suite bedrooms that sit along the banks of the dry Makhutswi riverbed. This effectively forms one large camp. There is a standard layout and design for each of the camps. Each can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests, allowing them to retain a personal ambiance. Meals and communal gatherings take place in a single venue - guests usually dine around an open camp fire in the evenings. The staff are warm and friendly, and the African-style food is delicious. The rooms are well-furnished and have the feeling of a bygone colonial era. There is a lovely private ‘sala’ (relaxation area) spot just off each suite balcony, where guests can spend the daylight hours between game drives snoozing, reading, or just enjoying the serenity and tranquility of the natural surrounds.
