Kasanka National Park in Zambia is one of the country’s lesser-known safari gems. This remote wilderness thrives with biodiversity, and is also the site of one of nature’s most awe-inspiring phenomena- the annual bat migration. Millions of straw-coloured fruitbats descend on a tiny patch of forest every November and December.
Luwombwa Lodge is located in west of the park, set on the banks of the Luwombwa River, a quiet and tranquil location in the heart of the wilderness. Each chalet has en-suite facilities.
There is a dining chalet where guests can enjoy meals, as well as a lapa overlooking the river, for those who prefer to dine outdoors.
A variety of unique safari activities await guests at Luwombwa. Venture out onto the river in a boat or canoe, or explore the wilderness on a traditional game drive. Spend time in one of the secluded bird hides, observing the area’s rich diversity of species. Embark on a guided walk, visit the tallest tree in Zambia, or go fishing. And if you visit during the bat season, you will be treated to one of the most spectacular and unforgettable sights you will ever experience.
