Mokala is SANParks’ newest addition to their family of parks and is situated approximately 70km south-southwest of Kimberley, and west of the N12 freeway to Cape Town. Nestled in the hills, Mokala's landscape boasts a variety of koppieveld (hills) and large open plains. Lilydale Rest Camp, located in the north-east of the park, offers 12 self-catering, air conditioned units overlooking the Riet River. The rustic chalets are traditionally thatched and reflect the nature of their surroundings. Warm exhilarating summers can be spent by the swimming pool. The restaurant at Lilydale Rest Camp offers guest breakfast and light lunch. The Riet River is said to have some of the best fly-fishing spots in the area. Other activities include day and night game drives, mountain biking, canoeing, and the opportunity to visit rock art paintings and engravings. At night, guests can enjoy star-gazing in the wilderness. Breathtaking sunsets and glittering diamonds in the sky, are all added by nature to complement an unforgettable visit.
