Kanana Camp, Okavango

Kanana Camp is a luxury safari camp set on on the Xudum River in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The Okavango is well-known for its rivers, wetlands, islands and lagoons that are home to a startling diversity of wildlife and birds, including the iconic African Big 5. The camp is located in the southwest of the Delta, in a region that is annually transformed by floodwaters that make for an awe-inspiring spectacle. Guests can sometimes even see the waters rising around the camp’s raised wooden decks! The camp features seven large tented suites and one family tent, each with en-suite bathrooms and shaded decks. The main area is made up of a lounge, bar and dining area built around a huge ancient fig tree. The camp’s firepit overlooks the floodplain- a wonderful spot to relax and swap stories after dinner. A myriad activities are on offer to guests. Traditional game drives bring you into close contact with the region’s wildlife, while the waterways can also be explored by boat or traditional “mokoro” canoes. Guided walks provide a more unique and thrilling way to experience a safari. The birdlife is outstanding, and guests at Kanana also have access to a seasonal heronry where a multitude of species can be seen. A wonderful feature at Kanana is the Sleep-out Deck, a short way away from the camp, where guests can spend a magical night out under the spectacular African sky.
