Hobas Camp is located in the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park, a national park that straddles South Africa and Namibia. It is located on the Namibian side, on the northern end of the spectacular Fish River Canyon. The camp is situated just 10km away from the main lookout point of the canyon, at the starting point of the world-renowned 90km Fish River Canyon Hiking Trail- an ideal position. The Fish River Canyon is the second-largest canyon in the world, and the largest in Africa. At 160km long, 27km wide, and almost 550m deep in some places, it is one of the main tourist attractions in this part of Namibia. Hobas offers shaded campsites, each with braai (barbecue) facilities, electrical points and taps. The communal ablution facilities have showers, toilets and wash basins. There are also chalets for those who don't wish to camp out. A swimming pool, restaurant and shop with basic supplies are available at the camp. The camp is the ideal for those wishing to do the famous multi-day Canyon Hike, but day hikes and walks are also possible. Several mammal species can be encountered in the canyon, including mountain zebra, klipspringer, and rarely, leopard.
