Thousands of seabirds roost on sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist, and brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the northern hemisphere. This is South Africa's West Coast National Park. The park's Geelbek Stables are specifically designed to accommodate school and community groups. The units are dormitory-style and can take up to 62 people and more by arrangement. Ablution and barbecue facilities are available. The kitchen is fully equipped. Guests can enjoy a wide range of activities at the park. Explore by means of walking, hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails. The park is a bird watcher's paradise, as it is home to over 250 species. There are also several water sports offered at the lagoon. A tapestry of spring flowers cover the strandveld during August and September each year, and around the same time, guests are treated to magnificent displays of Southern Right Whales passing by.
