The 5000-acre property, which is a Natural Heritage Site, overlooks the famous battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, the sites of the Zulu War of 1879. The tours are led by experienced, knowledgeable guides, whose excellent storytelling skills will make the history of the region come alive.
The game reserve is also home to an abundance of wildlife species, including giraffe, wildebeest, and over 250 bird species. The topography is stunning, and guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to exploring the reserve- horse-riding, mountain biking, game walks and hiking are available.
Several accommodation options are available to guests. The luxurious en-suite cottages at the Lodge or Guest House afford views over the plains bordering the river. The self-catering Umzinyathi Farmhouse is a charming stone building built in the 1920s, and is perfect for families. The small KwaGeorge House is another option that accommodates two people (includes meals).
