Baker’s Lodge, Murchison Falls

Baker's Lodge comprises of 10 suites overlooking the River Nile. Located in a beautiful area on the south bank of the mighty Nile River, which transects Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda, Baker's Lodge derives its name from the historic English explorer Samuel Baker. In the late 1800s, he and his companion Florence spent some time in this area during an expedition along the Nile, where he was the first European to view and consequently name the Murchison Falls a little further upstream. The lodge is built on wooden decks, to take advantage of the cool breezes and spectacular views. The site has a good number of shady trees and bush, and is home to a large array of birdlife. It is eco-friendly, with the most up-to-date solar power technology and efficient management of resources. Local materials are used wherever possible to build the lodge, and it has a feeling of the Africa of olde, that of the explorers' era, when Mr Samuel Baker first came to this region. We recommend a stay of between two to four nights at the lodge as there is a lot to see in the area. With the varied ecosystem, the animal and bird life is prolific.
