The Wilds of Zambia
Zambia is named after the mighty Zambezi River and has 19 national parks and reserves, some of these are amongst the best on the African continent. Zambia is slightly more off the beaten track and was once only suited for the more adventurous traveler. This has changed somewhat over the last decade and Zambia has opened up to the international market featuring some amazing safari experiences, lodges and camps. There are fewer staff in most of the reserves and parks and poaching is still a threat but this has decreased in recent years. The best time to view game is in the dry season when wildlife concentrates around the drying up waterholes and rivers. The rainy season is known as the Emerald season because of the thick, lush vegetation. Zambia is pure, untamed Africa with massive rivers, wildlife migrations, lush wetlands, incredible birdlife, great Tiger fishing and the legendary Victoria Falls and for the serious safari enthusiast should not be missed.
