A gorilla safari tour is one of the most unique, adventurous, and memorable safari experiences that you can have in Africa. Trekking through the wild forests of central Africa on foot, you are able to see these incredible creatures up close in their natural habitat. Professional, experienced guides accompany you as you set out in search of the gorillas. When you find them, you get to spend about an hour in their presence, observing them as they go about their daily activities, feeding and playing with their young. Their remarkable resemblance to humans is poignant and will stay with you. You can do a gorilla safari tour in three African countries-Uganda, Rwanda, and the Republic of the Congo. Several excellent tour companies offer guided trekking tours in these destinations. You can also expect to see a host of other bird, plant and animal life on a primate safari. Different tour options are available, including combining your gorilla tour with a traditional safari in Kenya or Tanzania

Useful Information

When is the best time to go gorilla trekking?
You can go gorilla trekking throughout the year but most people try to avoid the height of the rainy season. Having two rainy seasons, October-November and Mid-March-May, means that the ideal trekking months are from January to mid-March and June through to early October. Planning your tour during these months ensures a sunnier and dryer trek, though rain fall should always be expected. February and September are said to be the best months to plan your gorilla safari tour as these months are not only drier but are not so overcrowded, ensuring a most enjoyable trek.
